“I have been registered at this surgery for 20 years, since 2006, and unfortunately I have seen a significant decline in the standard of service over the last few years. After repeated problems, I have finally decided to move to another practice. I want to make clear that the nursing staff are excellent. I have always found them kind, helpful and professional. My concerns are with the GPs and the administrative/prescribing side of the practice. Over recent years I have experienced repeated problems with recommendations and correspondence from specialists not being acted upon correctly or within a reasonable timeframe. I have also had ongoing issues with prescriptions and have repeatedly had tests missing from blood-test requests, despite them having been specifically requested. On another occasion, I was incorrectly told to contact the hospital to obtain equipment for a test requested by a specialist. The hospital confirmed that the GP practice was responsible for arranging it, and the surgery subsequently apologised and provided it. Unfortunately, I reached the point where I felt I had to check everything myself — blood-test requests, prescriptions, specialist recommendations and whether correspondence had actually been acted upon. When you are already dealing with long-term health problems, having to continually chase and double-check your GP practice adds a completely unnecessary burden. I eventually made a formal complaint through the NHS Integrated Care Board, but even after going through that process I continued to experience problems. After 20 years as a patient, leaving isn’t a decision I’ve taken lightly. There are some very good members of staff here, particularly the nursing team, but unfortunately I have lost confidence in the practice’s ability to manage my ongoing care reliably.”

“I am a retired consultant anaesthetist and am disappointed in the lack of compassion that I expierienced today when I contacted the surgery having been instructed to do so by Dan. Dan , the paramedic who attended me on Friday was excellent. I am afraid I was fobbed off very professionally by one of the receptionist. I’ve moved to the area recently. This would not have happened at my previous medical centre, Acle.”
