The work is for a new junction and local access road. Easton and the route towards NorwichThe published local diversions use roads through the Colton, Barford and Marlingford area. Drivers should check the route for their direction of travel. From 11pm on Saturday 24 October until 6am on Monday 26 October, the A47 eastbound will close between Wood Lane junction’s south roundabout and Longwater Interchange. Norwich Road at Honingham Roundabout will also close in both directions. National Highways lists an eastbound diversion via Swaffham, the A1065, Mundford, the A134, Thetford and the A11 towards Norwich. Residents retain access, but traffic joining the A47 within the affected area can head west only. Separate restrictions at ThickthornThe A47 eastbound entry slip at Thickthorn will close earlier, from 8pm on Saturday 24 October until 6am on Monday 26 October. There is a further eastbound closure between Watton Road and Ipswich Road from 8pm on Sunday 25 October to 6am on Monday 26 October, to reinstate traffic management. A signed diversion will use the A1074 and A140. The delivery is for Ørsted’s Hornsea 3 offshore wind project, with the transformer travelling from King’s Lynn to Swardeston. Although it passes through the roadwork areas, National Highways says it is separate from its own improvement schemes.
