A five-year criminal behaviour order bans Craig Canning from Haymarket and ten named Norwich premises, Norfolk Police announced on Wednesday 14 October.

Canning, 38, of no fixed address, received the order at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Monday 12 October.

He pleaded guilty to cannabis possession, being drunk and disorderly in public, failing to comply with a community protection notice and assaulting a constable in the execution of their duty.

Places and alcohol restriction

The exclusions cover Moya Bubble Tea, Mountain Warehouse, Tesco on Westlegate, Sandra Reynolds Agency, Savers, B&M at Riverside Retail Park, RSPCA on Queens Road, Bella Italia, Athena Games and Cancer Research at Riverside Retail Park.

The order also prohibits him from possessing an open alcohol container, or a container from which alcohol is being consumed, in public within Norwich’s outer ring road.

Police say Canning was arrested on 9 October following drunk and disorderly behaviour around Queen Street and Prince of Wales Road.

The court also imposed a £120 fine, £40 costs and a £48 victim surcharge.

What the order means

A criminal behaviour order follows a conviction and imposes rules on the individual. Breaching it is a separate offence; it is not an automatic prison sentence. Government guidance on these orders explains the restrictions and possible penalties.
