A man who subjected a Norwich victim to violence and threats has been jailed for 32 months. Boyko Panayotov, 42, of no fixed abode, was sentenced at Norwich Crown Court on Thursday 15 October after admitting assault causing actual bodily harm, intentional strangulation and two counts of making threats to kill. He also admitted failing to comply with a notice requiring him to disclose his mobile phone PIN. Norfolk Police said most of the offences involved a man in his 40s. A friend took the victim to a police station on 4 November 2025 after an assault that morning. Police said Panayotov had forced him into a van and assaulted him. The victim then disclosed that he had been targeted for more than a year and forced to act as Panayotov’s private chauffeur. The sentencing also covered a threat to kill Panayotov’s former landlord, a separate victim. In a statement read to the court and released by police, the first victim described continuing anxiety and difficulty trusting people. He said he felt calmer knowing Panayotov was in prison. |
