Repair Café Norwich is marking its fourth birthday with a free fixing session at St Mary Magdalene’s Church Hall on Silver Road this Saturday, 17 October.

The event runs from 9.30am to 2pm at the NR3 4TF venue, coinciding with International Repair Day.

Bring something that needs attention

Volunteer repairers help with household belongings such as clothing, bicycles, small electrical appliances, toys and sewing machines. Donations are welcome.

The aim is to keep useful possessions in use and share practical skills. It is a chance to discuss a fault with someone who may be able to help, rather than assume a broken item must immediately be replaced.

The organiser advises people who are unsure about an item to get in touch before bringing it. A repair cannot be assumed simply because a session is free.

Four years of community repair

The anniversary highlights a volunteer effort that moves between Norwich venues. The group describes its regular sessions as an opportunity for repair, reuse and conversation over refreshments.

Saturday’s event is a practical way to meet that team and find out whether an item can be given more use. It is not a promise that every fault or type of equipment can be dealt with on the day.

For item enquiries, the organiser’s published contact email is [email protected].
