“Avoid if you expect reasonable customer service I had an incredibly frustrating experience with Boots over what should have been a very simple online purchase. I purchased a Boots e-gift voucher through EverUp, which is completely unused, intending to purchase six of the same item from Boots. However, Boots' website restricts me to ONE of the item per order. There is no reasonable explanation given that would help me actually complete the purchase I need. Because I am using Click & Collect, each order below £15 incurs a £1.50 charge. So instead of allowing me to put six of the items into one basket and complete one purchase, Boots effectively forces me to make six separate purchases and potentially pay £9 in charges just to buy six identical items. I contacted Boots to try to find a reasonable solution. I suggested several perfectly straightforward options: - Refund the completely unused voucher. - Provide a special link or alternative ordering method allowing me to purchase the six items in one transaction. - Refund the six £1.50 charges that I would incur specifically because of Boots' quantity restriction. - Provide equivalent Advantage Card points to compensate for the additional £9–£10 cost. I even explained that adding random products I don't need to each basket just to reach £15 is not a realistic solution. Why should a customer have to spend more money on things they don't want simply to avoid being charged repeatedly because Boots won't allow the required quantity in one order? What makes this particularly frustrating is that I am not asking Boots to give me anything for free. I simply want to buy six items that I need, using a voucher I have already paid for, without being forced into six separate transactions and six additional charges. I spent time contacting customer service and was ultimately told to email Boots about the issue. At this point, what should have been a straightforward purchase has turned into an unnecessarily complicated customer-service problem. Boots: if your website imposes a quantity restriction that prevents customers from completing a normal purchase in one transaction, you should provide a reasonable solution rather than effectively making the customer pay £1.50 repeatedly for each forced order. Extremely disappointing experience and, in my opinion, a very poor example of customer service.”
