“It is difficult to put into a Google review quite how important somewhere like The Lions' Den can become when you are going through a genuinely difficult period in your life. This past year has been one of the hardest I have had, and looking after my mental health through it has sometimes meant simply having somewhere to go, get out of my own head, be around other people and feel a little bit more human again. The Lions' Den has been one of those places for me. There is something about being by the river, getting outside, using the sauna and just having a space where you can switch off for a while that makes an enormous difference. It doesn't try to be a mental health service, and I don't think it needs to be. Sometimes what you need is simply a good place, good people and a reason to leave the house. It is also genuinely welcoming if you turn up on your own. You don't need to arrive with a group or already know everyone. There is a real sense of community without feeling like you are being forced to participate in one. I think places like this are incredibly valuable to a city. If you're having a rough time, feeling isolated, or just need somewhere to reset for an hour or two, I couldn't recommend it enough. Thank you for creating somewhere that has helped me more than you probably realise.”
