What people say

3 out of 5 stars

“I have stayed at this Holiday Inn a number of times for work. It's handy for the station and the city centre isn't far. The staff are friendly, and the bar/restaurant area has been recently renovated. Unfortunately the rooms are in a serious need of updating. Much of the furniture is worn, carpets faded and appear dirty and the mattresses have seen better days. Bathrooms have cracked tiles and stained white goods. If IHG spent a bit of money, it would significantly improve guest experience.”

“This is a hotel offering little more than the basics, with tired furnishings, worn décor and, unfortunately, terrible mattresses. Even being on the 6th floor — the top floor — does little to elevate the experience to anything resembling four-star standards. If football isn’t your thing, at least we got lucky. Our room faced away from the stadium, so we were spared the worst of the match-day noise. Small mercies! Then there’s the £7.95 nightly parking charge — which, rather surprisingly, is not for 24 hours. It expires at noon, precisely when you are expected to check out. That hardly feels like particularly good value. What makes this even more questionable is that the official Carrow Road on-site parking information states £6 for 24 hours, with RCP Parking managing the site using ANPR cameras. My advice? Pay for the parking directly yourself and avoid paying the hotel’s additional charge. So, IHG, what exactly is the extra charge for? An administration fee? If so, perhaps that could be made considerably clearer to guests. The reception experience didn't help. When I raised these points, the response was dismissive and the staff appeared completely uninterested in addressing the concerns. The attitude was cold and unwelcoming — hardly the presentation you would expect from a major international hotel group. Overall, the property falls well short of what I would reasonably expect from a four-star hotel. Four stars on the sign; considerably fewer in the experience. One visit is certainly enough for me — and it will be my last.”
